About GaussMathematics

GaussMathematics is building a world data infrastructure for models that understand the world.

We work with virtual worlds, simulation systems, and physical environments to produce structured multimodal data engines for world models, robotics, and physical AI. Our work includes world-state snapshots, synchronized multi-view video, action-state trajectories, replayable traces, benchmark tasks, evaluation records, and customer-specific data pipelines.

We work with frontier teams building the next generation of spatial intelligence, embodied AI, robotics systems, generative video, simulation, and physical AI.

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer, Data Infrastructure to build the core systems behind GaussMathematics data engines.

This is an entrepreneurial, high-ownership engineering role at the intersection of backend systems, data infrastructure, AI data workflows, and customer-specific delivery. You will design and build systems that ingest, process, version, validate, and deliver structured multimodal data from virtual worlds, simulations, and physical environments.

This is not a conventional backend engineering role. The work requires technical judgment, strong systems thinking, and the ability to build reliable infrastructure around ambiguous, fast-changing data requirements.

You will help define how world data infrastructure is built, operated, and delivered for frontier AI teams.

What you will do

  • Build scalable data pipelines for multimodal records, including video, metadata, world state, object state, action traces, and evaluation signals.
  • Design storage, indexing, versioning, and retrieval systems for large-scale structured data.
  • Build internal tools that help technical teams inspect, validate, package, and deliver customer-specific datasets and data engines.
  • Work closely with simulation, robotics, ML, and data teams to turn complex workflows into reliable production systems.
  • Improve performance, reliability, observability, and reproducibility across data processing pipelines.
  • Help define schemas, interfaces, APIs, and internal abstractions for world data infrastructure.
  • Own systems end to end, from prototype to production.
  • Build with confidentiality, security, and customer trust in mind.

What we are looking for

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals.
  • Experience building backend systems, data infrastructure, distributed systems, developer tools, or internal platforms.
  • Ability to design reliable systems from ambiguous requirements.
  • Comfort working with large-scale data, pipelines, files, metadata, databases, queues, APIs, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong debugging ability and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work closely with technical teams across engineering, data, simulation, robotics, and customer delivery.
  • A builder mindset: you are excited to create the system, not just operate one.

Strong signals

  • Experience with Python, TypeScript, Go, Rust, C++, or similar systems languages.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure, object storage, databases, workflow engines, queues, containers, or distributed processing.
  • Familiarity with machine learning data, multimodal datasets, model evaluation, simulation data, robotics data, or computer vision pipelines.
  • Experience building internal tools, data platforms, ML infrastructure, or developer infrastructure.
  • Experience in an early-stage company or a 0–1 engineering environment.

What success looks like

Success in this role means building infrastructure that lets GaussMathematics turn complex environments into reliable, versioned, model-ready data systems.

You will help us move faster, deliver with higher quality, and create reusable engineering foundations for customer-specific data engines.

Why join

GaussMathematics is working on a foundational problem: how to turn complex environments into structured data systems for models that need to understand, predict, and act in the world.

This is an opportunity to join early, work close to the company’s core technical systems, and help build the engineering foundation for a new category of AI data infrastructure.
